Covering women in Mixed Martial Arts since 2008
It started as a way to support my local female fighter friends in California by giving them exposure across the web. To my surprise and delight, our videos gained more and more views and subscribers. Before I knew it, we were traveling thousands of miles to cover the sport.
From the sweet days of Strikeforce, the turbulent Bellator tournaments, the creation of Invicta and the first steps of women into the UFC, we’ve been through it all. Yet our mission remains the same: provide exposure for our female fighters and community.
We’re dedicated to sharing the stories and experiences of these athletes, along with the stats that accompany their accomplishments.
Kristin Usry created Women’s MMA Roundup in September 2008 launching a video series exclusively covering professional female fighters. She oversees production and hosts the studio shows. Kristin has contributed to FighterGirls, WomenTalkSports, and MiddleEasy. She is also a member of the Women’s MMA Press Association that holds the annual WMMA Awards.
Veronica LoCurto is the lead field reporter and serves as a technical advisor for the Roundup. She is a BJJ purple belt under Lana Stefanac and has been training in MMA since 2007.
Having previously contributed to Fighter Girls, Jade was invited to join the Roundup in 2012 to lend her WMMA photography to the fold. Sometimes she likes to put together videos, too. She has neat shoes and probably looks like a hipster. She also trains in kickboxing, Taekwondo, and Krav Maga for funsies.
